SG Senate

Well friends, I was successful in my bid for AUSG Senator!  I am now American University Senator Jason Cunningham.  Tomorrow, I am sworn in, and take up the reigns of power.

It is indeed a priviledge to serve my School, in a position of leadership as my forefathers did before me!

Colin, however, wasn’t as fortunate.  He lost his bid for Senator at Large.  This is suprisingly hard to deal with.  While we all knew he had the most difficult race, and probably wouldn’t win, his loss has dealt a very bad blow to me.  I don’t know why, but I’m taking it very hard.  Oh well.

Some consolation however, is the election of Mr. Justin B, who is my fellow representative for the class of 2009.  I suspect, he’ll run the senate with an iron fist.

Yes, tomorrow is the State Opening of the 3rd American University Senate.  At that meeting we will all be sworn into office, and other ceremonial duties, I’m sure.  Or not.

Senate

Senate…

Well friends, as of last Thursday, I am officially running Student Senate.  I’m running for the 2009 seat.

Here is my campaign poster:

Now, clearly I’m not expecting a very tough campaign, there are 30 seats in the senate, 5 of those seats are for Class of 2009 representatives.  There are 3 people running for those seats.  Leaving 2 seats empty.  This means that I almost win automatically.

I’m made a deal with myself, that if I win, I’m going to buy one of those nice leather binders with the gold AU crest on the front to carry my senatorial papers in.  I had also considered a flag too, but thats just too weird.

Now Justin B. and a new friend this year, Christina, are both running too, and both of them face defacto victories too!

So the three of us are “already” senators.

This leaves Colin, he has the most difficult race of us all.  He’s running for one of 4 at Large seats.  There are 7 other people running for those same at large seats.  This means we really need to push and help him win.

We’ve been printing and posting posters all over campus, and are currently producing a couple massive posters for our windows.

Pray that Colin would win.  For my sake at least, because I’d be a much better senator WITH Colin, than without him.

Thats the news from AU.  See you soon!

Hairspray

First, let me just say how sorry I am for not updating.  I know that this has been a serious hardship for you both.  ::smiles::

Well friends, the other night some friends and I went and saw Hairspray!

I really enjoyed the show – I was concerned that I wouldn’t enjoy the show at all, but I was surprised to find it now only clean and reletively wholsome entertainment, but just plain fun.

Despite moral objections to the advocasy of cross-dressing, John Travolta did a splendid job as the mom (pictured above) although his voice could have used some help.  As a long-time SDP Radio actor, I know the value of having a Lady’s voice to play a character.  He was slightly off the mark – perhaps intentionally.

Classes are going well, I’ve got a History of Britain map quiz in a few moments, so I’m off to study.  Do you know where Hibernia is?  Neither do I.  See you soon!
